January assessment learner response
1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).
WWW: This is a seriously impressive assessment, well done! It is clear you have learned and revised terminology and theory- there is a real authority to your writing which shows confidence in your knowledge.
EBI: The key to A/A* is using that knowledge to present an articulate debate: writing an essay that constructs an argument and then provides evidence for this.
Try to evaluate theories;criticise them, question them, challenge. Most is importantly, make sure you are using examples from the media (this will be easier once we're studying exam CSPs)
2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Identify at least one potential point that you missed out on for each question in the assessment.
question 1 : The stormzy 2020 tour poster contains a range of conventions that communicate meanings that audience would recognize and understand as a concert promotion.
question 2: Synergy allows companies to maximise profit from a brand e.g. Harry Potter franchise.
question 3: PSB maintains quality standards- audience appreciate quality
question 4 : Bandura’s social learning theory suggests people copy behaviour seen on screen. However,

media content.

I think it would be a 6 out of 10 .
4) Look at your answer for Question 2. Did you manage to write about three different strategies and three different benefits? It's vital you read the question and follow it exactly.
I wrote about the three different strategies and the benefits of them.
5) Look at your answer for Question 3. Did you follow the question guidance and write about both the BBC and commercial broadcasters? What could you have added to this answer to reach a higher mark?
To get a higher mark i would have to discuss more advantages of public service broadcasting for a better argument.
6) Now look over your mark, teacher comments and the mark scheme for Question 4 - the 20 mark essay question on media effects theory. Write a new paragraph for this question based on the suggested theories/answers in the mark scheme. Make sure it is an extensive, detailed
Bandura's social learning theory suggests that people learn behaviour by observation and imitation . This suggests that the media has a damaging effect on audiences as they would observe behaviour they see on screen and will imitate it because its their role model or they identify with the character. This could be damaging as the audiences may imitate illegal or dangerous acts to be like the character. On the other hand, some may argue that the media does not have a damaging effect kn people as the experiment was with children who are more impressionable and the experiment has been discredited by other studies.
