WWW: I really enjoyed looking at your blog – your semiotics work is very good with a range of excellent examples alongside a thoughtful analysis of the short film English. If we can maintain this level then I’m confident we’ll be aiming for the top grades! I also like your use of highlighted media terminology and the choice of the Nike gender advert (which has plenty of potential meanings).

EBI: There is a concern here over your missing work – the opening 10 questions – and your Reception theory blog post which is unfinished. I imagine your 10 questions may well be in drafts which we can fix quickly but try and avoid leaving questions unfinished as you have with Reception theory. That final question is also a very important one – the ability to evaluate theories and form your own opinions is crucial in A Level Media – e.g. do you agree with Stuart Hall’s idea that texts all have multiple meanings?

LR: Update your blog to make sure all work is fully completed and posted. Then, reflect on your work in A Level Media so far. What is your strongest piece of work? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?

I have updated my blog finishing any tasks and questions that were not completed. I think my strongest piece of work is reading an image as i tried to form my own opinion on the images as well as taking into consideration views other people may have. I also incorporated all the aspects of media language i had learnt before into my work making it a more detailed analysis. I think my weakest piece of work is the reception theory, the second question in particular as i struggled to give an in-depth answer for the question. I need to improve on incorporating media language into my work when answering questions.
